With the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) compliance deadline of December 30th, 2025, approaching, Drive Sustainability — together with its leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and in collaboration with SUPPLIERASSURANCE — has developed a Deforestation Sustainability Assessment Questionnaire (DSAQ).
This company-level risk-screening assessment is designed to help organisations prepare for the upcoming regulatory requirements.
The Deforestation SAQ addresses the due diligence requirements of the Regulation found in Chapter 2 “Obligations on Contractors and Traders” from Article 4 through Article 13 which mandates deforestation-free supply chains.
How the Deforestation SAQ Supports Compliance
As a first line of defence, the DSAQ enables organisations to:
- Assess their suppliers’ due diligence systems and gather necessary evidence.
- Evaluate suppliers’ capability to collect relevant information for products within the scope of the EUDR.
- Identify potential gaps that could indicate a high risk of deforestation in the supply chain.
These insights are critical for demonstrating compliance with the EUDR and ensuring responsible sourcing.
Why This Matters for the Automotive Supply Chain
The legislative landscape for all tiers of the automotive supply chain is becoming increasingly complex and stringent. Companies must establish robust due diligence systems and provide transparent, defensible evidence of sustainability practices —extending down to raw materials sourcing.
The Deforestation SAQ is a crucial first step in identifying high-risk suppliers and taking proactive measures to align with EUDR requirements.
