ENVIRONMENTAL DUE DILIGENCE
ENVIRONMENTAL DUE DILIGENCE
To further its efforts in its Sustainable Supply Chains strategy, Drive Sustainability launched an Environmental Due Diligence workstream in early 2024 with an initial focus: Getting to grips with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
In collaboration with its OEMs, Drive Sustainability’s work aims to help the automotive industry navigate compliance challenges pertaining to the EUDR and prepare them in the most effective way possible to reach compliance.
To this end, a new Deforestation Sustainability Assessment Questionnaire was developed in collaboration with platform provider NQC.
THE DEFORESTATION SUSTAINABILITY ASSESSMENT QUESTIONNAIRE (DSAQ)
The Deforestation SAQ addresses the due diligence requirements of the Regulation found in Chapter 2 “Obligations on Contractors and Traders” from Article 4 through Article 13.
This new Sustainability Assessment Questionnaire, created in collaboration with NQC, uses a scoring model akin to the general SAQ to identify and collect data from Tier 1 and sub-tier suppliers with high risk for deforestation in order to prepare the necessary due diligence statements (DDS) required under the regulation.
The DSAQ is currently available in 8 languages.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
Furthermore, Drive Sustainability is continuously ensuring its own understanding of the EUDR and that of its members is thorough through activities such as the organisation of webinars with various speakers and the development of a Scoping Document in collaboration with the leading automotive supplier’s partnership Drive Plus and stakeholders such as the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), CLEPA, and the law firm contrast.
Disclaimer: The Scoping Document resembles a legal interpretation by the law firm contrast, not a sector position. Neither the partaking associations nor their members are liable for the legal positions assumed therein.
